Spring Into Health and Wellness for Your School!

The Healthy Kids Spring Step It Up Challenge is a no-cost step program that promotes overall health and well-being for Ohio based schools and the community. The process is simple. Create and register a team made up of school administrators, educators, and parents of the student body. You need a minimum of three participants.  

Create a team for your Ohio school district and start stepping to model healthy habits, show leadership, and win money!

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • When: March 20, 2023 - April 9, 2023
  • Deadline to Register: Friday, March 17
  • Goals:
    • Be the team in your OHSAA district board region with the highest average total steps
    • Keep moving to reach the TOP of the leaderboard
    • Maintain your daily streak
    • Compete in the weekly mini challenges to win gift cards, Fitbit devices, and more
  • Prizes: The Ohio school district team that racks up the most steps will win $1,500, while the teams with the most steps in each of the six OHSAA District Athletic Board Regions will win $1,000 for their school!
  • Note:
    • The six OHSAA District Board Regions are: Central, East, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest. 
    • If your school district has multiple teams, your district cannot win the prize money for both the Top Stepper and District Athletic Board Region.

Remember: Participants are only able to join one challenge at a time. Choose between Healthy Kids Step It Up Challenge (for Ohio schools only) and Step It Up Challenge.

Daily Activity Cap: We have included an activity cap in this challenge to help even the playing field among participants. For this challenge, participants will be able to log up to 50,000 steps each day. Please see below in the Frequently Asked Questions section for more info.

Q. Who can participate?
All school employees, colleagues, or parents of the student body. Students are not allowed to participate in the Challenge. Schools are able to create more than one team.

Q. Does everyone on my team need to sign up through the invite link?
Yes, everyone on your team needs to sign up using the invite link at the top of the page. The first person to register from each organization should create a team so others can join the correct team as they register. No code is needed through the link.

Q. Will non-syncing users impact my team’s score?
Users who aren't syncing any steps, distance, or minutes will count towards their team's activity average, as those zeros will also be calculated into the team's average as well.

Q. If I don’t have a fitness tracking device, can I still participate?
Yes, participants can select “Manual Entry” when prompted to sync their device. *Please note logging distance or active minutes will not convert to steps. Click here to see how to convert distance to steps. 

Q. What is a daily activity cap?
We have included an activity cap in this challenge to discourage dishonesty and help even the playing field among participants. For this challenge, participants will only be able to log up to 50,000 steps each day. To learn more, Click Here.

Q. Will manually logging my distance convert to steps?
No, adding distance will not adjust your steps to match and vice versa. Click here to view how many steps are in a mile to convert to steps.

Q. How do I manually log activity data?
Click here to view instructions on how to manually add your activity in the platform. This challenge is based on steps, so make sure to log your steps each day.

Q. How does the chat feature work?
Stay engaged and motivated with MoveSpring's chat feature! With chat, users can send messages and photos to the entire challenge, their team, or directly to friends. Users can also react to messages using chat reactions or reply within a thread to continue a conversation! Click here to learn more.

Q. What is a Streak?
The Streak mode allows you to set a daily goal to reach every day of your challenge. This means the goal you set should be something you think you can realistically achieve each day of the challenge without missing any days.
